Indeed, Michael was completely self-driven on his trail to Eagle, one time completely redoing most of the Environmental Science merit badge overnight after a data glitch lost record of his completion of it. His Eagle Scout Project involved renovating two public restrooms and adjoining anterooms of The Saint Clare Theater on the North Side of Syracuse. Michael has served Troop 400 as Den Chief, Arctic Fox Patrol Leader, Raven Patrol Leader, and Troop Guide. He currently serves as Senior Patrol Leader. Tom passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review on October 12, 2005, when he was only 15 years old. For his Eagle Scout Project, Tom designed, built, and installed eight Bat Houses for Camp Talooli, owned by Camp Fire USA. Bats help control the mosquito poulation without being harmful to the environment, and they can eat up to 1,000 mosquitos an hour. Tom's houses gave the bats a safe place to live. The project took over 185 man-hours to complete, and enlisted the help of over 25 people. The project was funded by a bottle drive that Tom coordinated, which raised $165 more than was needed for the project, so this money was donated to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief. Tom began his Scouting career in Troop 620, and transferred to Troop 400 in March of 2006. Tom currently serves as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 400, and is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, where he serves as an active member of Lodge 219's Ceremony Team.

Tom attends Liverpool High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, Ski Club, Robotics Team, and the Craftsman Club. Throughout the summer of 2007, Tom volunteered as a blacksmith and craftsman for St. Marie Among the Iroquois Living History Museum. Tom has been accepted to the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he will attend college following his graduation from LHS in June 2008.
